Wiseman, R. (2009). Queen bees and wannabes: helping your daughter survive cliques, gossip, boyfriends, and the new realities of girl world. New York: Three Rivers Press.

Queen Bees and Wannabes was a book written by Rosalin Wiseman.  In this book, Rosalin takes you into the world of complex social struggles a girl faces.  Rosalin explains that cliques start forming in elementary school and she guides parents and educators in understanding how cliques work and what happens within them.  She states that cliques have roles within them from the Queen bee to the sidekick, bystander, messenger and the target.  She explains the roles, their formation and the importance they play in their sociological development. In her book, she talks about the different parenting styles and how they may be effective or ineffective in navigating the teen girl's mind.  Throughout the book, Wiseman gives an insight on what it is to cope with adolescent years and how to survive the intensity of adolescent relationships be that with boys, friends parents and family members.  The book, for the most part, had a self-reflective tone to it.  It motivates you to think about your experiences, your actions and how you approach or deal with a situation.  It gives you advice on how to deal with certain situations and how you, as a parent, educator or friend, can be mindful of your actions and help guide adolescent girls through this difficult world of cliques.
