During PSED 521, Seminar of Education II, I created a Unit Plan Expansion. The unit plan expansion was created to expand a current unit to accommodate and adapt the Unit to students with learning disabilities.
Children with disabilities may face challenges in a Spanish learning classroom. Those challenges may include language based tasks such as reading, spelling, writing or listening. Children with more severe disabilities may face challenges such as hearing a word and recognizing it in writing, comprehending the spoken language even when spoken slowly, and learning and remembering the sounds or phonemes of the new language, especially those sounds or phonemes that have little or no resemblance to the native language. The lesson adaptations in this unit plan expansion will help students of all learning abilities become successful in a foreign language classroom.
